CSI attended the 2 December Washington DC Area Apache Spark Interactive, a one-day learning and discussion event co-sponsored by CSI partner Raytheon. The event title was “How Apache Spark fits into the Big Data landscape?” Apache Spark is intended as a general purpose engine that supports combinations of Batch, Streaming, SQL, ML, Graph, etc., for apps written in Scala, Java, Python, Clojure, R, etc. This event explored how Spark fits into the Big Data landscape – e.g., other systems with which Spark pairs well – and why Spark is needed for the work ahead. Oct 2014: MongoDB DC 2014

CSI attended the 14 October MongoDB DC 2014 event at the Newseum in Wasington DC. MongoDB is a next-generation, cross-platform, document-oriented NoSQL database that favors JSON-like documents with dynamic schemas to make the integration of data in certain types of applications easier and faster. The event included fast-paced and highly-technical sessions for people new to MongoDB as well as even deeper sessions for experts. The MongoDB engineering leadership team was present and accessible all day and presented the future roadmap for MongoDB.

Jun 2013: Flynn Named AFCEA DC Sponsorship Chair

CSI’s Director of Corporate Relations, Dina Flynn, took the position of Sponsorship Chair on the AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association) DC Board. In this role, she is responsible for recruiting industry companies to sponsor chapter events. Events include monthly speaker luncheons, Mobile Conference, Winter Gala, Cyber Symposium, Military Leadership Awards Banquet and Emerging Technology Showcase. Oct 2012: CSI Partners with SBDC
